Limitless Night is a piece inspired by the poetry of Stephen Crane. The piece begins with a melancholic, lilting cello melody that reflects the loneliness of Crane’s words and the emptiness of a “limitless night.” As the piece progresses, a rhythmic B section and playful melody depict a transformation from loneliness to joyful understanding. The piece concludes with a climactic re-statement of the opening material, where both musical ideas co-exist in harmony.
